Participatory Project Review Neighbourhood Volunteer Scheme – Report

2009. Author: African Development Alternatives

This report commissioned by UNDP (on behalf of the UNV and UN PBF) seeks to assess the relevance and achievements of the Neighborhood Volunteer Scheme (NVS), draw lessons and make recommendations on the sustainability of the project and its integration into a comprehensive national peace building strategy. The NVS was launched as an emergency response to the post 2007 election violence that broke out in. The project, which employed a strategy of deploying volunteers at the neighborhood level, was intended to restore peace through counseling, reconciliation and peace building, as well as provide support for the distribution of emergency assistance.
