This three-year project signed between UNDP and the Government of Kenya aims to strengthen the capacities of both state and non-state actors at the national and local levels in conflict prevention, management and resolution. The strategic objectives outlined in the document include strengthening national capacity for conflict prevention; expanding the coverage of District Peace Committees; supporting Civil Society Organizations’ activities to prevent and manage violence around the 2013 general elections; responding to the challenges posed by the proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons; deepening national cohesion and integration; strengthening political dialogue; and mainstreaming the role of youth and women in peacebuilding.
